IN 2017, The Downtown Gary Public Art Competition sponsored by The Legacy Foundation, Knight Foundation and City of Gary selected two of my public art proposals in two funding categories - $25,000 and $10,000.  ART | PARK won $25,000!

DESTINATION GARY: ART | PARK reimagines urban space in celebration of art and design, transforming vacant sites into public spaces, walkable and park-like. A series of creative installations invites exploration in the unbuilt environment and challenges our notion of traditional art spaces.

A Project Concept that Didn't Win.

“My Name, My Font” is a typography project drawing on graffiti, sign painting and pin striping.  Artists partner with Gary residents who submit family surnames as the mural content.  In choosing font and style, residents are not only the subject but collaborators in design. (I could only win in one category, so this idea didn't win but I hear it received lots of love!)
